IGNOBLE | Cora Classic

by Pascal Rohé

I confess: I have a thing for backpacks. Whether travelling, hiking or in the metro, I just can’t help staring at people’s backs, checking out the shapes and details of the backpacks they have on.

Since starting my Outdoor Aesthetics Project, my fascination for backpacks has not decreased. On the contrary. In my daily research, I discover again and again new brands that I had never heard of, companies making quality backpacks. That’s how I came across the Californian brand Ignoble. Simple design, great functionality, no unnecessary frills. Available only in: black. I liked Ignoble immediately.

I was lucky enough to get to test drive one of their backpacks: the Cora Classic, and really get a closer look. As the name suggests, this backpack has a classic design with hood closure, and a capacity of 36L.

The Cora won me over with its simple and no-nonsense design. There’s a large main compartment with a drawstring closure and adjustable hood. On the front is a zippered pocket with a robust YKK zipper. On the left and right are open utility pockets large enough for a litre water bottle each. Inside is an extra smaller pocket for valuables, as well as a sleeve for a tablet or 15” laptop. On the left and right, as well as on the bottom of the backpack are adjustable straps which can be used to attach extra clothing, sleeping mats, tents or anything else. Giving you lots of options for carrying whatever you need to and making the Cora a very versatile companion indeed.

I had the Cora with me on my trip to Istanbul, and also on a hiking trip. In both the city and in the great outdoors, the Cora Classic passed with distinction. For hiking trips, the laptop sleeve can be used to hold a 2L hydration pack. Works perfectly.

I should also mention how comfortable the backpack is to wear. Even heavily packed, the Cora sits comfortably on the back and shoulders. Sternum straps offer additional support.

Plus, the workmanship is excellent and of the highest quality. I could find no faults. The backpack is made of tough 400D nylon and, as already mentioned, robust YKK zippers. This backpack really gives the impression that you’re never going to need to make use of the lifetime warranty.

VERDICT: I have to say, I like everything about the Cora Classic. It’s not just the wide spectrum of functionality it offers, but also the minimalist design and the high quality of the workmanship and materials: it really gets my heart pumping. I really hope Ignoble stays true to their philosophy and continue to produce such great products. In black, of course.
