17 Nov Another Escape – Volume Six

Outdoor lifestyle and creative culture publication ANOTHER ESCAPE is out now with the winter edition, Volume Six:

Under the canopy of the theme ‘Winter’, this volume explores how alpinism has influenced and inspired mountain culture in the ‘Peaks, Passes and Glaciers’ feature section. Another Escape takes a closer look at the qualities of natural fibres and the heritage of the wool industry in Yorkshire, UK in the ‘Keeping Warm’ feature section. In the ‘Iceland’ feature section they look to better understand the land of extremes – of fire and ice – that the Icelandic people reside in, their appreciation for their environment and considered way of living, and how they utilise the phenomenal natural resource of geothermal energy. And lastly, Another Escape looks at how we can stay motivated and tethered to the natural world through the colder months in ‘Beating the Blues’ feature section.

Exploration of the untamed, wild mountains of the Haute Alps • Beating the blues and staying motivated in the colder months • Understanding the power of nature in snow-laden terrain and how to navigate the mountain environment • Considered living in Iceland, a land of extremes, and innovative use of geothermal energy • Stepping out into chilly landscapes with four outdoorsmen to understand their relationship with the great outdoors in the wintertime • Understanding how local foraging, eating seasonally and reintroducing forgotten foods can keep us tethered to the natural world across the seasons • Keeping warm with natural fibres, ethical production, animal welfare, and the heritage of wool in Yorkshire, UK • Learning how the natural world and cold weather experience can inspire creative practice
